WEST LAFAYETTE,  –

Alarm clock deadlineTime is running out as deadlines approach for providers and hopitals.

FOR ELIGIBLE PROVIDERS

Nov. 29: Registering attestation intent with ISDH

Indiana eligible providers with an EHR reporting period starting October 1, 2014, must register their intent with the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) by Saturday, Nov. 29, to submit public health measures (a core requirement). Failure to complete this task by the deadline, even if the provider has an ongoing submission through an exchange, will make him/her ineligible to attest for 2014.

Nov. 30: Hardship exception applications to avoid the 2015 Medicare payment adjustment

Paperwork for hardship exception applications from eligible professionals and eligible hospitals is due by 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, November 30, 2014. Hardship exception applications are submitted by those eligible providers who wish to avoid the 2015 Medicare payment adjustments for not demonstrating Meaningful Use of Certified Electronic Health Record Technology.

FOR HOSPITALS

Nov. 30: Hospital and CAH attestation deadline

The Meaningful Use attestation deadline for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) is quickly approaching. Hospitals and CAHs must attest no later than Sunday, Nov. 30th to receive a 2014 incentive payment. Hospitals participating in the Indiana Medicaid EHR Incentive Program must attest by Nov. 30, as well. But keep in mind that there is a two-day delay from reporting in the Medicare portal to submitting data in the Medicaid portal. The CMS Attestation System is open and fully operational, and now includes the 2014 Certified EHR Technology Flexibility Rule options. Medicare eligible hospitals can attest any time to 2014 data until 11:59 p.m. EST on Nov. 30, 2014.

Reminder: Medicare/Medicaid eligible hospitals must attest to demonstrating Meaningful Use every year to receive an incentive and avoid a payment adjustment. If your hospital or CAH is attesting using the Flexibility Rule with 2011 CEHRT to 2013 Stage 1 metrics, contact PHA for guidance on completing the Medicaid component of the attestation.
