Associate Advisor-Health IT Security
Scott Richards serves as Purdue Healthcare Advisors’ Associate Advisor-Security, where he uses his gift of being able to easily explain technology to non-technical people. In this role, Richards guides physicians, dentists and their practice managers to select computers and handheld device that best suit the needs of each particular practice. He also works with hospitals, practices and clinics to ensure their technology is HIPAA compliant.
Richards is certified on all major computers (i.e. Apple, HP, Acer, Asus, Dell, etc.) and also holds A+, CCNP, MCDST, and MCSA certifications. Although Richards can program in Java, C, C++ and Visual Basic, he specializes in mobile technologies.
He believes that, since he started his career in computer technology in 1986, he has “tested every computer tablet and handheld device going back to the Apple Newton.” Richards has helped develop applications for Palm, Microsoft and Apple handheld devices; written numerous reviews on them; and presented about the devices at more than 50 seminars.
