Post-Doctoral Researcher in Data Science

Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering (RCHE) is announcing a search for a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the goal of analyzing health data including electronic health records (EHR), insurance claims, social determinants of health (SDoH), and model development on data science foundations.  

The Post-Doctoral Researcher will support the RCHE’s data analytics activities based on inputs from key stakeholders  and under the supervision of the Director of RCHE. He/she will interact with external partners and the broader internal team, including Health Equity Analysts, for model and analytical solution development. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who works well under pressure in an ever-changing high paced environment and has the ability to juggle multiple demands and meet deadlines. Job responsibilities

  • Evaluate data science customer needs and design and develop analytical solution, methodological framework, and their software implementation
  • Develop end-to-end data life cycle process including data acquisition, data preparation, loading and cohort creation for specific customer needs
  • Develop visualization tools for customer communication and interpretation
  • Work with research scientists and other stakeholders for scientific manuscript preparation. Present research results to internal and external customers.
  • Work with graduate students and other researchers for training of data usage platforms and regulatory process.
  • Participate in grant writing as directed by the supervisor.


  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field
  • Experience in a cloud computing environment such as Amazon Web Service is a plus
  • Experience using health data such as electronic health records and insurance claims
  • Advanced skills in Linux shell scripting language, programming languages such as Java, Python, C and, SQL
  • Advanced skills in data analytics design experience using health data such as electronic health records and insurance claims.
