Senior Advisor, Lean Facilitator
Andrew Bethel, ALP, serves as Senior Advisor, Lean Facilitator for Purdue Healthcare Advisors (PHA), the outreach arm of the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering at Purdue University. In this role, he serves hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout Indiana and the Midwest by teaching lean principles and methodologies and coaching on how best to apply them once learned.
Andrew is a systems thinker with a heart for servant leadership. He has nearly 15 years of professional experience with a proven track record of leading organizational excellence and continuous improvement programs that have yielded significant cost savings, efficiency gains, and performance improvement.
Prior to joining PHA, Andrew worked for a community-based health system where he managed information technology and clinical informatics projects and process-improvement initiatives. There, Andrew was heavily involved with the implementation of new electronic health record (EHR) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. He also served as a leader for the organization’s strategic change initiative based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework. Prior to transitioning into the healthcare industry, Andrew held various roles in research & development, sales engineering, project management, business development, and supply chain management with several global companies in the manufacturing sector.
Andrew earned a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis ('05), and an Advanced Lean Practitioner (ALP) certification from Purdue University.
